Doula Access Program

The Doula Access Program (DAP) is a partnership between the DOULA CO-OP of Nevada (DCNV) and Renown Medical Center to address shared goals when DAP Doulas are supporting their clients (birthing individuals and families) before, during & after childbirth.

In order to be enrolled in DAP, Doulas must be an active member of DCNV, complete a two day, three-part shadow & training with hospital staff at Renown to cover general safety procedures, OR protocol, and labor/delivery & postpartum care team practices.

Overview

Goals

  1. DAP Doulas will work alongside nurses, physicians, and hospital staff as an integrated member of the patient care teams on labor, delivery, and postpartum units.

  2. Reducing unnecessary interventions and improving maternal and infant patient outcomes by facilitating education about physiological labor/birth & non-medical comfort measures.

  3. Increase access and awareness to Doula support before, during and after childbirth in the hospital for all birthing families, including individuals insured by Medicaid.
