Xieanne Le (She-in)
Xieanne’s Story:
Xieanne (pronounced She-in) finally decided to certify as a Birth and Postpartum Doula when they moved to the UK in 2021 and life slowed down! Although she’s only been certified for a few years, she’s been a doula her entire life. Taking care of others and providing comfort during peoples vulnerable points in life and having a doula of her own while giving birth to her daughter really made her realize what she was put on this earth to do. Xieanne truly believes that if more families had access to doula services and the care that they provide, outcomes in birth and postpartum would change drastically (for the better)! Her time in the UK was an eye opener, especially when it came to postpartum care. Many families hired postpartum doulas and this is where Xieanne began to shine! Her hope is to open societies eyes to how great postpartum doulas are and make it a more mainstream practice.
. . .
Birth work has always been on my radar, ever since I was a young child. I used to love holding babies, changing diapers and being in any space that allowed me to experience infants being cared for. As I grew older I realized that it wasn’t the infants that needed to be held, it was the parent(s)! I’m on a mission to continue to educate folks on the importance of doulas and be present in spaces where I’m welcomed.
Aside from being a birth and postpartum doula, I also certified as a Real Birth Teacher and teach physiological childbirth education classes. I’m currently enrolled in the GOLD Lactation CLSP program and I’m working my way towards being a lactation support person. I also just started volunteering my time with Serenity Birth’s Milk Bar support group to help answer questions and provide feeding resources for those who come.
My philosophy on birth work is that it isn’t going to make me a millionaire but the joy I get from serving my clients and being there for them is priceless. I serve all populations but I also know that not everyone will be comfortable with me and that is okay. I’d really like to increase the amount of vulnerable women that I help as that is near and dear to my heart (I was a single mom from birth to 4 years old with my daughter).
Outside of birth work, I design cakes, yoga/barre, spend time with my daughter and husband and love to organize things. My labeler makes me happy hahaha
I also love to travel and am already itching to travel around this state and we’ve only been here 5 weeks!
